Knife Maintenance

There are three areas to consider for best practice when using knives:-

STORAGE
Using a wooden knife block can dull the edge & throwing into a drawer can also damage the edge therefore we suggest a magnetic knife holder as the most effective knife storage system.
CORRECT KNIFE USAGE
Each knife is designed for a specific task, so for example using a filleting knife to de-bone meat will cause the edge to dull quicker. Always use the correct knife for each task.
SHARPENING USING A STEEL
Follow the steps below for a safe & effective method of bringing your knives back to life.

Place a chopping board on work top then a damp cloth over board to prevent slippage.

Put the tip of steel on chopping board & position upright.

Address the heel of the knife to the steel at between 10/20 degree angle.

Then pull the blade back & forth across the steel around 6/8 times. Careful to keep a constant angle.

Once complete repeat on other side of blade.
